ALICE JUDSON

Alice Judson was born in Beacon, New York in 1876. She attended the Art Students League in New York City where she studied under John Henry Twachtman. Judson had a successful career in New York City in the 1920s and 1930s and also painted at Gloucester, Massachusetts and the Hudson Highlands. She was a member of numerous art associations and exhibited throughout the Northeast including: the Gloucester Society of Artists, the Pittsburgh Art Association, the Hudson Highlands Art Association, the Springville Art Association, Allied Artists of America, the North Shore Art Association, the Society of Independent Artists, the Duchess County Art Association, the Putnam County Art Association, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Babcock Galleries, the Carnegie Institute, Milch Galleries and the Philadelphia Water Color Club. Judson’s work can be found in public and private collections including the Louise and Alan Sellers Collection, Wesleyan College, Macon, Georgia, Mattewan State Hospital, Beacon, New York, the Pittsburgh Friends of Art and the Public School Collection, Pittsburgh, PA.
