ALICE MARION CURTIS

Alice Marion Curtis was born in 1847 in Boston, Massachusetts, where she worked until 1907. She studied under William Morris Hunt, Frank Duveneck and Charles Woodbury in Boston, as well as in Europe from 1885 to 1886. Curtis was a member of the Boston Watercolor Club, the Copley Society, and the New York Watercolor Club. She exhibited extensively, including at the National Academy of Design from 1875 to 1879, the J. Eastman Chase Gallery in Boston in 1882, a solo exhibition at Studio 44, also in Boston, in 1889, the Philadelphia Art Club in 1897 and 1898, and the Trans-Mississippi Exposition in Omaha, Nebraska in 1898. She died in Milton, Massachusetts in 1911.
