FELICIE WALDO HOWELL

1897-1968

Though her early work consisted largely of interiors, Felicie Howell is most well known for her watercolors painted on board her husband’s yacht while cruising the New England Coastline, including a series of America’s Cup Races done in 1937. She attended the Philadelphia School of Design for Women, and was an Associate Member of the National Academy of Design in 1922. In 1933, Howell taught at the New York School of Applied Arts and Painting. She died in 1968.
