HENRY HAMMOND AHL
1869-1953Born in E. Hartford, Connecticut, in 1869, Ahl established studios in Washington D.C., New York City, and Boston early in his career. He painted portraits, religious murals and landscapes and became commercially successful when his New England scenes were reproduced for cards and calendars. He settled in Newbury, Massachusetts, in 1920, and spent the rest of his career painting scenery of the surrounding area.
