JOSEPH LINDON SMITH
1863-1950Painter, sculptor, decorator, craftsperson, and lecturer Joseph Lindon Smith was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, in 1863. He studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and also at the Académie Julian in Paris with Boulanger and Lefebvre. He held the position of honorable curator of the Egyptian Department at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He also gave lectures on Persia and Egypt. His paintings hang at the Gardner Museum and his sculpture studies are in many collections around the world. He died in 1950.
