STANLEY W. WOODWARD
1890-1970Stanley Wingate Woodward was born in Malden, MA, in 1890 and studied at the Eric Pape School of Art, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He taught at the Woodward Outdoor Painting School after 1935, the Ringling Art School in Florida in 1937-38, and the Laguna Beach School of Art and Design in 1963. He worked as an illustrator for Collier’s and Ford Times magazines. He was author of “Adventures in Marine Painting” and “Marine Painting in Oil and Water Color” and was a contributor to American Artist magazine. He died in 1970.
