SYDNEY RICHMOND BURLEIGH

1853-1931

Born in Little Compton, Rhode Island, Sydney Richmond Burleigh was a pupil of C.Y. Turner and Paul Laurens in Paris. He was a member of the New York Watercolor Club, and the founder of the Art Workers Guild. He exhibited and won prizes for his works at the St. Louis Exposition of 1904 and at the Buffalo Society of Artists in 1913. His work can be found at the Rhode Island School of Design, and the Delgado Museum, New Orleans.
